Dr. Atanu Dey is an economist with an enigineering and computer science background. He received his Phd from UC Berkeley for his thesis on the Indian telecommunications sector. Dr. Dey along with Mr. Vinod Khosla a venture capitalist who funded many billion dollar companies including sun Microsystems has developed a model which he calls “Rural Infrastructure and Services Commons (RISC)” that promises to bring about the economic transformation of rural India. Dr. Dey is also working on designing an education system which would use technology to impart quality education to children in rural areas where there is shortage of `quality teachers.
